Overview

A Level Law Program

The course explores the English legal system alongside key areas of substantive law, including contract, tort, and criminal law. Students develop skills in analyzing legal problems, applying legal rules, constructing structured arguments, and using appropriate legal terminology. The Cambridge International AS & A Level Law (9084) syllabus introduces learners to the law of England and Wales and develops legal analysis, reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills. At AS Level, students study the English Legal System and Criminal Law, while A Level extends this foundation through the Law of Contract and Law of Tort. The qualification provides a strong foundation for higher education and careers in law and related fields.

To develop a strong foundation in the principles of the law of England and Wales. As a result, learners can think critically, interpret legal frameworks, and understand the role of law in society and professional practice.

Mission:
To deliver structured legal education that builds analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and legal communication skills. Furthermore, it prepares students for progression into higher legal studies and supports pathways into careers within the legal and regulatory environment.

What is the eligibility?

Applicants should have completed IGCSE, O Level, GCSE, or an equivalent secondary education qualification. An interest in law, critical thinking, reading, and analytical reasoning is recommended, but no prior legal qualification is required.

Course structure

English Legal System

Introduces the structure and function of courts, legal professionals, and sources of law in England and Wales. Focuses on legal processes, precedent, and statutory interpretation.

Criminal Law

Covers general principles of criminal liability, key offences like murder, manslaughter, theft, and non-fatal offences. Encourages analysis of legal rules and case outcomes.

Law of Contract

Explores how contracts are formed, terms, breach, and remedies. Students learn how agreements are made legally binding and how disputes are resolved.

Law of Tort

Focuses on civil wrongs like negligence, nuisance, and liability. Teaches how the law compensates individuals harmed by others' actions.
