The MBA Top-up program is a specialized offering designed for individuals who have already completed a postgraduate diploma or equivalent qualification in business or management. It enables professionals to achieve a full MBA degree by completing additional advanced-level coursework and a dissertation or consultancy project.

What Is an MBA Top-Up?

An MBA Top-Up is a fast-track pathway that enables holders of a relevant postgraduate diploma (e.g., Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership or similar) to progress directly to a full Master of Business Administration (MBA) without repeating the full MBA coursework. Instead, you typically complete a research module, project, or dissertation to fulfil the final credit requirements.

A top-up degree is a way to gain a full Master's degree after achieving Diploma Level 7 (Post Graduate Diploma). 

The following are the important features of the MBA.

  • Program Credits: Full MBA with Diploma Level 7 is 180 Credits
  • Format: Online Distance Learning
  • No Written Exam. The Assessment is done via the Submission of the Assignment
  • The Same Degree that is given to full-time students at the University Campus.
  • Study material: Comprehensive study material and e-library support are available at no additional cost.

  • Become eligible to gain direct entry into relevant Doctorate / PhD programs.
What is the eligibility?
  • For entry onto the online MBA Top-up, learners must possess a UK level 7 Diploma with 120 Credits or an equivalent overseas qualification.
  • Learners must be 18 years or older at the beginning of the course.

What is the Course Content for this MBA Top-up program?

You’ll study through the university’s world-class online Learning Management System, which can be accessed from your phone, PC, or tablet at home or on the move. Canvas provides instant access to study materials, forums, and support from tutors, as well as enabling easy submission of your assignments. On successful completion of your studies, you’ll be invited to attend a graduation ceremony on campus. If not, we’ll arrange to have your certificate sent to you.

MBA (Top-Up) focus: Research-based dissertation or a strategic business project

You'll undertake a research project & produce a report of no less than 15,000 words.

  • Verify Eligibility: Ensure you meet the entry requirements (e.g., Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent). If you don't meet the entry requirements, Berkeley School of Business will assist you with the research thesis and assignments.
  • Submit Application: Provide required documents, such as academic transcripts, and a CV showcasing your professional experience.

Step 2: Research Proposal
  • Topic Selection: Choose a relevant and impactful research topic that aligns with your career goals and interests.
  • Proposal Submission: Prepare and submit a research proposal for approval, outlining your objectives, methodology, and intended outcomes.
  • Supervisor Feedback: Regularly consult your supervisor to refine your work and address feedback.
  • Evaluation: The dissertation is assessed based on the quality of research, critical analysis, originality, and practical applicability.

Step 3: Graduation
  • After passing the program: you will be formally awarded the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
  • The MBA credential: internationally recognized and demonstrates your expertise in leadership, strategy, and research.
  • Graduation ceremony: You may have the option to attend a formal graduation ceremony, either in person at the university or virtually. This is an opportunity to celebrate your achievement with peers, faculty, and family.
